New Parents Association
Our new Home School Community Liaison Co-ordinator Jean Hughes has helped to establish a Parents’Association and the response from the parent body has been remarkable. Following an information meeting which was facilitated by the National Parents Council on January the 23rd, the first formal meeting of the Parents Association elected a committee on Tuesday the 5th of February.

Committee Members: Tracy Watson, Mandy Arkins,
Sharon Dunne, Leslie Boland, Annmarie Hunt, Tara
Brennan, Lynsey O’Toole and John Fleming.
New Chairperson Peter Watson said; ‘We are delighted that a new Parents’Association has been established in the Girls’School and we want to thank Ms Hughes for all her help. We are determined to work as hard as we can to improve parental involvement in the school and to make sure that our children get as best an education as possible.’

The Parents Association invited all local politicians to a meeting to discuss the delay in the building programme.
The following public representatives were in attendance:
Sen. Paschal Donohue (Fine Gael)
Cyprian Brady TD (Fianna Fáil)
Cllr Christy Burke (Sinn Féin)
Joe Costello TD (Labour)
It was agreed that the issue would be raised with the Minister for Education as a matter of priority.
